Boracay
Boracay is a small island located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in Western Visayan region of the Philippines. You can either take a flight to Kalibo Airport which is around one hour and 30-minute drive to Caticlan or take the direct flight to Caticlan.
Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies. It was awarded as the 2012 best island in the world from the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure. In 2014, the resort island was at the top of the Best Islands in the World list published by the international magazine Condé Nast Traveler. In 2016, Boracay headed the magazine's list of Top 10 destinations to watch.
In recent years, development has swamped and spreading almost all areas in the island. It is the busiest island and has been known for its night life – the “Ibiza” island in the Philippines. The entire stretch of 7 KM white sandy beaches is divided into 3 zoning; Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. Though this stretched of beach can be flocked with thousands either beach bums or just curios ones, it is the whitest powder sand and its turquoise water over-shadow the congestion. This is what makes this island the “Best Beach in the World”.
